  ALZU LAYING HENS FEEDS

ALZU developed an outstanding quality Layer Feed that comply with the requirements of the production of hens on the point of laying, as well as for the commercial egg producent.

1. Energy

Energy forms the biggest component of the layer hen's diet. This plays an important role in the maintenance of body temperature and is of utmost importance for growth and egg production. ALZU Layer feeds are formulated on daily energy needs, balanced with protein, amino acids, vitamins and minerals for optimum production

2. Protein

Protein is the second largest component in die layer hen's diet. Protein is built from amino acids, each with a unique chemical structure. ALZU's feeds contain the right amount of available nitrogen and essential amino acids needed for optimum growth during each development stage as well as for optimum egg production.

3. Minerals

ALZU's feeds are enriched with additional calcium and phosphor for an ideal Ca:P ratio of 1.5-2.0:1. In laying hens calcium is very important, because two-thirds of the eggshell comprises calcium. A vitamin/mineral premix is included in ALZU Layer Feeds.

4. Nutrition of the Layer Hens - Phase 1: The growing phase

The aim of feeding chickens of the laying breed is to obtain optimum bodyweight with enough reserves when production starts at 18 weeks of age. This will ensure maximum production, as well as egg size. The hens must not become 'over-conditioned' (to fat), as this will have a negative influence on production.

Feeding must take place based on bodyweight and condition rather than on age.

ALZU Pullet Starter (PS190)

A complete ration for chickens of a layer breed from one day to 56 days of age.
No additional maize or other grain must be added to the ration.
ALZU Pullet Starter is available as a meal and crumbs, 50kg bags.
Feed ad lib.

ALZU Pullet Grower (PG160)

A complete ration for hens of a layer breed from day 56 to point of laying, at 18 weeks of age.
No additional maize or other grain must be added to the ration.
ALZU Pullet Grower is available as pellets in 50kg bags.
Feed ad lib.

5. Nutrition of the Layer Hens - Phase 2: The production phase

Most producers buy their hens on point-of-laying, approximately at 18 weeks, coinciding with their production stage.
Hens eat according to their energy requirements; it is very important to fulfil this requirement.
As hens are still growing at 18 weeks, their feed must provide for maintenance- and production requirements.
Intake of sufficient calcium is necessary to ensure good quality of the egg shell.
The size of the hen on point-of-laying will have an influence on the size of the egg.
Enough calcium intake is important for egg shell quality and there is provision for it in different layer feeds.
ALZU Layer feeds are formulated according to average intake eg. LM105 would provid the balanced nutrients with an intake of 105g feed per day.

The density of the rations differs accordingly to the intake.

ALZU Layer 100 (LM100)

A complete ration for laying hens from 18 to 22 weeks, with an intake of 100g per day.
No additional maize or other grain must be added to the ration.
ALZU Layer 100 is available in a meal, 50kg bags.
Feed ad libitum.

ALZU Layer 105 (LM105)

A complete ration for laying hens from 22 weeks to 35 weeks, with an intake of 105g per day.
No additional maize or grains must be added to the ration, as this will effect the balance of the feed.
ALUZ Layer is available in a meal, 10kg and 50kg bags.
Feed ad libitum

ALZU Layer 110 (LM110)

A complete ration for laying hens from 35 weeks to 70 weeks, with an intake of 110g per day.
No additional maize or grain must be added to the ration, as this will effect the balance of the feed.
ALZU Layer 110 is available in a meal, 50kg bags.
Feed ad libitum.

6. Layer Concentrate

ALZU Layer Concentrate is available for producers that want to mix their own rations. It is important to use good quality maize with a protein content of 8.5% to get the same high quality feed as ALZU's complete layer feeds.

ALZU Layer Concentrate is available in a meal, 50kg bags.

ALZU Layer Concentrate
  kg %
ALZU Layer Concentrate 400kg 40%
Yellow Maize 600kg 60%
TOTAL 1000kg 100%

* The final mixture must be fed ad libitum.

8. General Feeding Guidelines

Feed twice a day, so that hens eat once a day the trough clean.
This will ensure balanced intake.
Don't make the feeding trough to full, as this will lead to separation of the feed.
Mix the feed in the troughs twice a day to stimulate intake and make sure the feed doos not separate.
