ALZU EGGS is another division of ALZU ENTERPRISES (Pty) Ltd, located in the Middelburg (Mpumalanga) area.

   
 

The operation comprises 430 000 healthy pleased layer birds, which are housed in large layer houses where high levels of bio-security are continuously maintained in a stress-free environment, to produce our well known ALZU Eggs.

SELENIUM-ENRICHED EGGS

WHAT IS SELENIUM-ENRICHED ALZU EGGS

Selenium is a trace mineral that is found in varying quantities in the soil.
We add sel-plex the to chickens grain fed diet to increase the selenium level in the egg.
Human diets usually provides 50% of a person's RDA of selenium.
US RDA: 55ug/day
One selenium enriched egg can deliver up to 20ug selenium.
With a single selenium-enriched egg the target is to deliver the other 50% RDA.


WHAT DOES SELENIUM DO FOR YOU

The biological role of selenium is listed as follows:

Anti oxidant - Meaning it neutralises toxic by-products in the body.
Thyroid metabolism
Immune function
Fertility
Poor growth, inefficiency
Muscular myopahty


ORGANIC SELENIUM AND THE INFLUENCE ON HUMAN HEALTH

Selenium and certain types of cancer
Protect against cancer of the lungs, colon, rectum and prostate.
Decreases cancer mortality (Article in the Journal of the American Medical Association
   JAMA Dec '96)

Selenium and Aids survival
Selenium deficiency decreases the immune response and makes us more susceptible
   to disease.
Recearchers found that HIV -1 infected patients with selenium deficiency were 19.98
   times more likely to die of HIV-related causes than those with adequate selenium levels.

Selenium and heart disease
Proven that selenium plays a role in the forming of substance that gives us protection against
   high blood pressure and they also prevents abnormal blood clotting in arteries that may lead
   to a stroke or heart attack.

Selenium and healthy blood sugar levels
Selenium mimics the action of insulin.

Selenium reducing arthritis pains
Low selenium status has been associated with incidence of arthritis.

ALZU FREE RANGE EGGS
We already have 28 000 laying free range hens and this will increase monthly until September 2008, when we will have 112 000 free range laying hens.

Meaning that at the end of 2008 our free range will be 22% of all our eggs.
