  ALZU DAIRY FEEDS

To optimise profit over feeding cost, it is necessary that a high quality concentrate together with high quality roughage must be fed to dairy cows.
Due to the fact that concentrate is expensive, it must be used efficiently by feeding according to production requirements.
The ideal ratio of concentrate:roughage must be between 40:60 and 60:40 of the total mixed ration.

All ALZU's dairy feeds is available in meal and pellets.

1. ALZU Dairy Feeds

ALZU Dairy Feeds contain three different protein fractions, 17%, 19% and 21%. Each protein fraction contains a range of feeds that differs in energy, amount of maize, soya oilcake, fish meal, urea and bypass protein as a percentage of total protein.

Basic
This is a low-density feed. It should maintain a milk average of 18 litter, depending on the type and quality of roughage available.

Standard
This feed contains a maximum of 1.2% urea.
It can be used successfully in newly growing pastures, or where long distances must be travelled to get to their feed, requiring higher levels of energy. It can successfully be used by mixing roughage and a total ration. Divide cows in groups and feed according to production. The top group should be fed just a little more than 500g/litre to challenge the cows.
Correct formulated TMR's is very important; contact an ALZU technical advisor for a recommendation.

High Energy
Feed contain less than 1% urea
It can be used successfully with pastures and TMR's.
The percentage of protein that will be used must be adapted to the roughage available on the farm.

ALZU Supercow
This ration is formulated for optimum production of cows that are on a total mixed ration, where management and quality of roughage is outstanding. Stress levels of the cows must be kept as low as possible to make sure that cows produce optimum quality and quantity of milk. The ration is balanced in nutrient components, like NSC, lysine and calium. These cows should average a production of 32 litres and higher with cows that peak at 55 litres.

Semi Complete
This ration contain 10-15% lusern and less than 1% urea. It is usually used where roughage is scarce and of low quality. The semi-complete ration can be fed up to 750g/litre, but cows should have a daily intake of 3kg of roughage

2. ALZU Dry Cow

This ration has a negative ions balance to prevent milk fever. It can be fed from 14 days before calf, with an intake of 3kg per day, together with medium quality roughage ad lib. Don't feed lusern during the dry period, use silage or natural grazing as roughage for dry cows

3. Dairy Concentrates

The same high standard dairy rations can be obtained by mixing Alzu's concentrate with the farmer's own yellow maize, that should contain at least 8.5% protein, to maintain the desired spesification.

The dairy concentrates include:
SU360 urea free
HPK40 urea free
SU400 with urea
HPK60 with urea

Mixing instructions of HPK: Urea free
Product End product
SU360 (200kg) + Maize (800kg) Dairy 15% urea free
HPK 40 (270kg) + Maize (730kg) Dairy 17% urea free
HPK 40 (350kg) + Maize (650kg) Dairy 19% urea free

Mixing instructions of HPK: Urea included

SU 400 (220kg) + Maize (780kg) Dairy 15%
SU 400 (270kg) + Maize (730kg) Dairy 17%
HPK 60 (170kg) + Maize (830kg) Dairy 17%
HPK 60 (200kg) + Maize (800kg) Dairy 19%
HPK 60 (230kg) + Maize (770kg) Dairy 20%
HPK 60 (250kg) + Maize (750kg) Dairy 21%

ALZU can on request include medication and/or roughages, like lusern or whole cotton seed.                                                                                                                                     TOP
4. Calf Feeds

Complete calve feed can be fed to calves from 3 days of age. Lusern meal is included to stimulate adequate rumen contractions to cause early development of the calf's rumen for digestion of roughages and urea. The earlier the calves become active ruminants the more economic and efficient calves can be fed.

Feeding guidelines:

Age Feeding Guideline
Day 1 to day 3 Colostrum intake 2-4kg/kalf/dag

Day 4 to 3-4 weeks Milk of Milkreplacer as 10% of bodyweight
ALZU Complete Calf pellets, ad lib
Fresh, clean water ad lib available
No roughage until the intake of Complete Calf pellet is 1.0-1.2kg/day

Wean until 3 months Wean the calf when the calf's intake of the Complete Calf is 750g per
day and 4-6 weeks of age
Fresh, clean water ad lib available
ALZU Complete calf ad lib available
Good quality hay when the intake of Complete Calve is 1.0-1.2kg/day

This feed is save to feed to heifers up to 4 weeks before calving, but it must be restricted to a maximum of 3kg intake per heifer per day.                                                                                                                                                                                                            TOP
5. Heifer Concentrate

The heifer concentrate can be mixed with maize to give an ideal feed for heifers to ensure good growth to reach target weight on time for insemination. This can mean an extra calf over her lifetime.
